The world of work is changing rapidly: technological upheavals are following each other ever faster, digitalisation is affecting both the world of work and the world in which we live, always online applies not only to services but also to many work contexts, new and often precarious employment relationships are taking hold and psychological burdens are increasing. The "beautiful new world of work" (Ulrich Beck) questions the classic working day, new conflicts about the value of work, about fair pay, about equal opportunities and the dissolution of boundaries between work and life are breaking out. Does work 4.0 lead to the "creative destruction" of individuals who suffer more from psychological stress or can we also see opportunities in the world of work 4.0, the contours of which we have so far only guessed? One thing is certain: the changes in the world of work of the future 4.0 are at least as serious as the upheavals of the industrial revolution.
What does working 4.0 mean and what changes are associated with it in the world of work and life? Digitisation, (data) security, innovation or tradition, work (distribution) and work compression, work-life balance and questions of time sovereignty, work and health all these keywords are intended to provide food for thought in order to approach these questions in the context of the lecture series.
The lectures follow these discourses and explicitly deal with the question which consequences for gender (plurality) freedoms or limits in the new tendencies of gainful employment are already clear and which can be guessed. Central questions will be such as: "Will traditional gender separations in gainful employment processes in the future be obsolete or will they also reproduce themselves under the conditions of work 4.0?" or "Does digitalisation create more possibilities for compatibility?" or "Will private life increasingly be delimited?
Consequently, it is above all a question of discussing a model of "good work" with regard to social conditions and rules of the game. In particular, the consequences for studies, scientific qualifications and academic fields of work from a gender perspective should be discussed and teaching and research potentials and needs should be considered:
