Which playgrounds and parks are recommended?
Where are playgrounds in Magdeburg?
The city of Magdeburg has an overview of all playgrounds in the city on its pages. Here you can find addresses and pictures of the municipal, public playgrounds and recreational areas for children in the city.
Playground Röntgenstrasse in Stadtfeld
We like to go to the playground Röntgenstrasse in Stadtfeld. It's fenced in, so you can block out the outside world. There is also a lot of shade. Only the slide is in the sun in the mornings in summer, so when the weather is right, sliding is out. Our two would soon have burned their butts with their shorts the other day. But otherwise, the place can only be recommended. Even when our two were still babies, we liked to go here. There is clean sand everywhere, so they could always crawl and dig. The turntable was always a hit, too. Today, however, the big slide is the first place to go.
Harry Potter Playground in Neustädter Feld
The Harry Potter playground is located a bit outside the city center in Neustädter Feld (stop Hermann-Bruse-Platz) but it's worth the walk. All playground equipment is made of wood. We always meet many children here, so our little ones always find older playmates to help them climb or swing. The benches in the shade are also an advantage. And for the diggers, diggers and hidden princesses, the little houses under the climbing frame provide enough shade. A high playful wooden fence loosely seals off the whole area so that no one gets lost. Another advantage is that the supermarket, savings bank, drugstore and pharmacy are right next door. There you can combine shopping and playing, especially with older children.
Playground "Schellheimer Platz"
This playground can be used by all age groups. So centrally located in Stadtfeld, probably half the residents meet on some afternoons. There is an extra area for the very young. The water playground invites them to splash around and build castles.
On the road in Olvenstedt
Karolina, Kai and I live in the city district of Olvenstedt in Magdeburg. When I take the little one for a walk, it's usually right in Olvenstedt. Now some will surely say: 'Olvenstedt? You can go for a walk in that neighborhood?' But I tell you: YES, you can. It is even very beautiful here. The apartment blocks mostly enclose very nice courtyards, the "Olvenstedter Boulevard" is beautifully green with various water features and the Florapark park is also not far away. Karolina loves to watch trees. It doesn't matter if she's in the stroller or lying on the grass.
The other day I went to the park with her, then we lay down under a small group of trees on the meadow. Karolina lay on her blanket and looked intensively at the leaves above her - as if she were counting them one by one. While she was doing this, she kicked, whooped and laughed. I had taken the toys (rattle, teddy etc.) for nothing. Meanwhile I could do a little for the university. As she kicked more and more, I took off her diaper and she was able to wriggle around with her bare bottom. That was a lot of fun. In between I still nursed her and after almost 3 hours we went home again. All the fresh air and the kicking made Karolina quite tired, so she slept a little more at home.
Polar station
The relatively new playground is located in the district Neue Neustadt near the Lübecker Straße (behind the health office, social center north) all playground equipment is made of wood. Children can climb on "icebergs" and slide down again, climb on numerous pieces of equipment and then dream in the nest swing. The best is probably the "shipwreck". With a steering wheel and a viewing basket, it offers young and old explorers plenty of room for their imagination.
At the zoo
The playground at the zoo is great. The petting enclosure is directly connected to the playground. With a big slide the children can slide directly from the playground into the enclosure of the goats. Unfortunately, you can only go to the playground if you have paid the entrance fee for the zoo.
The Elbauenpark
The water playground in the Elbauenpark is really first class. The water is totally cold, but that doesn't really bother children. The shady trees were a suitable place to rest, at least during our visit in high summer. You can see the Nautica well from the playground. The Breitscheidstraße entrance is probably the best place to get there.
Also in the Elbauenpark is the butterfly house. 200 butterflies in 25 species can be admired here under a roof. The glass paradise with tropical climate is therefore particularly suitable for rainy days.
In the Rothehorn Park
The large climbing kite is located on the meadow between the ferry dock and the tarred circular path. Especially for the older ones it is a great playground. Unfortunately, there is no shade while playing. But on the upper side there is a bench for the parents with a nice view. A little further back between the trees is a playground with swings, seesaw and slide. Here even the little ones can let off steam. Big advantage: plenty of shade under the large trees.
