When can I have my child looked after by a childminder? care for my child?
Day care is an individual and family-oriented form of care for children offered by the state capital Magdeburg on the basis of §§ 22-24 SGB VIII and §§ 6 and 11(6) KiFöG LSA. In this form of care, up to 5 children are cared for by a trained day care person in their home or in other rooms.
Day care is mainly provided for children up to the age of three as an alternative to care in a daycare facility. Parents who decide to take advantage of day care can make use of the services of the Youth Welfare Office or make private arrangements.
The pro-rata financing by the Youth Welfare Office for a place in day care was decided by the City Council in the "Guidelines for Day Care" and is tied to the following criteria:
- There is demonstrably no place available in a daycare facility in the social area and in the adjacent social area.
- The working hours of the parents are longer than the opening hours of the day care centers.
- The health condition of the child, confirmed by a medical certificate, justifies this form of care.
