Diversity Scholarship
You think that scholarships are only awarded to students with outstanding achievements and a seamless résumé? Not quite, because the diversity scholarship is primarily intended to support those who are less likely to meet the actual standard criteria or whose plans have been thwarted by life.
Situation analysis
Performance evaluation at educational institutions is not always fair, as influencing parameters such as diversity dimensions are not taken into account and those affected do not have sufficient opportunities to compensate.
Goal
One goal is to promote prejudice-free interaction between members of OVGU in order to strengthen understanding for diversity and respect at the place of study and work. Furthermore, it is intended to raise awareness that not all people have the same prerequisites/access to study. In addition, the assurance of support is also an important aspect. The Diversity Scholarship is primarily aimed at those who have a special life history and do not appear to meet the criteria for a scholarship.
Concept
The idea is to introduce a diversity scholarship. Among the actors involved is a team, which takes care of the implementation and establishment of cooperation. Sponsors, professors, students and patrons should be part of this team. Possible cooperation and networking partners could be the Office for Gender Equality, the Student Union, the Career Center of the OVGU, street workers, vocational schools, the Youth Welfare Office and the Employment Office.
